About

Site Juicer was founded by me, David Whitehouse, in 2009 to help startups and small businesses gain an Internet presence and improve their marketing via the Internet and this is my story…

First Experiences of Internet Marketing
I first started programming websites in 2002 as a hobby whilst studying at University. When I graduated I was given an opportunity to set myself up in business selling excess inventory. I decided the best way to do this was using the Internet, so I programmed my own ecommerce website from scratch. Once finished it suddenly dawned on me, despite all my studies I didn’t have a clue how I was going to market it. I discovered AdWords and I spent almost £1,000 before realising my business model wasn’t going to work, so I closed the business and got an everyday job.

Never Make the Same Mistake Twice
Then in 2005 I started on another business venture, this time I programmed a marketplace for business services (similar to Elance), then I hit the same snag – how do I promote this website I have just put together?! Again I went back to the day job…

My First Success with Internet Marketing
This time I got a job dealing with a companies ecommerce website, but they appeared to already have the website in place, as Marketing Assistant, my job was to promote the site and get it to make money. They were spending around £1,000 per month on Google AdWords, and they were bringing in £400 in sales. They sold printer parts and they had over 60,000 products, but only around 2,000 of them were on the website. I had a brainwave and managed to spend around £500 in the first month of managing it, but gained over £10,000 in sales, from then I realised that Internet marketing was where I wanted to be. By the time I had finished working for this company they were steadily earning £15,000+ per month in revenue with only a spend of around £500.

Agency Work
My next Internet marketing job was me working at Bronco, a World leading search marketing company, headed up by renowned SEO expert, David Naylor and his wife, and savvy business woman, Becky Naylor. This is the job that really changed things for me, although I knew about SEO, whilst doing this job I became and SEO expert and learned a wealth of information from working with Dave. I learned about testing all kinds of things, and this really is what Internet marketing is about, testing, tweaking and trying again.

The Future
After doing various odd jobs for friends of family etc. I’ve realised what I am good at, and what I am bad at. I decided that I didn’t enjoy working for money, so thought that perhaps, with Site Juicer, I could help people for free and still make money through various other means – and herein lies the challenge for me!
